i. Details of the event/activity

The webinar titled "AI: Opening More Access to Economic Opportunities: A Brief Session and Conversation," organized by DICT IV-A CALABARZON in partnership with CNPWD Knowledge Resource and Tech4Ed Center, DICT Laguna, featured distinguished resource speakers, Dr. Rex Bernardo, Head of CNPWD Knowledge Resource and Tech4Ed Center, and Dr. Eduardo Canela, holding degrees in BSEE, MBA, and PhD. This insightful webinar delved into the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing accessibility and economic opportunities, shedding light on innovative ways AI can benefit individuals and communities

ii. Reflections the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

The integration of AI into ICT technologies has revolutionized accessibility for PWDs. It has enhanced web content availability, addressed historical challenges, and opened up new possibilities for individuals with disabilities. The history of AI demonstrates its enduring potential to improve the lives of PWDs. As AI continues to advance, it holds the promise of a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Moreover, AI is not just a transformative force but also a bridge to employment opportunities for PWDs. By harnessing its capabilities, society can empower individuals with disabilities to overcome barriers and contribute their unique skills to the workforce. AI is not replacing them but rather enabling them to unleash their full potential in the professional world.

iii. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level.

(Practical application of learnings)

The webinar inspired us to put AI into action for inclusivity. Think of websites as open books for all, thanks to AI making online content easily accessible. Personalized AI apps translate sign language and convert speech to text, facilitating communication for people with disabilities. In workplaces, AI adapts environments for inclusivity, using smart tech and navigation aids.

AI also empowers skill development, creating tailored training for better job prospects. We collaborate with AI experts and advocacy groups to address unique challenges faced by people with disabilities. Rigorous testing ensures AI meets accessibility standards, and we keep learning and advocating for policies that support AI-driven inclusivity. We're making inclusivity a reality, so everyone has equal access to economic opportunities. Together, we make a difference. AI offers more than mere accessibility; it offers a brighter, more accessible future for everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.

iv. Positive feedback (on the event organization)

- The speakers on the webinar are very knowledgeable on the topics, and they were very accommodating answering the questions of the participants. All the questions asked were answered satisfactorily. They answered my question pertaining “How can AI help employments if they can replace them?”. I am very satisfied with dr. Canela’s answer where summarized as “The limitations of AI still exist, and humans still exist to fill this gap. Humans are still necessary for AI to work.

v. Suggestions for improvements to be made/ consider for future activities

- I suggest giving microphone access to the participants on the Webinar when the QnA session starts. This will make the participants and speakers communicate much more clearly.
