Event Title: ”GC SPORTSFEST SIKLAB 2023”

i. Details of the event/activity

Gordon College's Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023, held from November 8-11, brought an exciting array of sports and activities to our campus. The event featured a diverse range of sports competitions, including volleyball, basketball, arnis, badminton, table tennis, bowling, athletics, swimming, taekwondo, futsal, and sepak takraw. In addition to the sports events, there were also other engaging activities such as chess, mascot making, Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest 2023, and the lively Yell and Dance competition. The campus buzzed with energy as students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate sportsmanship and camaraderie.

ii. Reflections the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

Participating in Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023 provided a wealth of learnings beyond the scoreboard. The sports events taught us the values of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Whether on the court or in the cheering crowd, there was a shared sense of unity and school spirit. The non-sports events, such as mascot making and the Yell and Dance competition, highlighted the creativity and talents within our college community. Overall, the event underscored the importance of physical activity, healthy competition, and the sense of belonging that comes from participating in collective endeavors.

iii. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level.
(Practical application of learnings)

The learnings from Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023 offer practical applications that extend beyond the event itself. The teamwork and discipline cultivated on the sports field can be applied in academic group projects and collaborative tasks. The creativity showcased in non-sports events like mascot making can inspire innovative approaches to problem-solving and project design. Furthermore, the event highlighted the potential for incorporating more physical activities and team-building exercises into regular college life, promoting a holistic approach to student development.

Kudos to the organizers of Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023 for orchestrating a seamless and vibrant event. The scheduling of a variety of sports and activities provided something for everyone, ensuring widespread participation. The atmosphere was electric, creating a palpable sense of enthusiasm and school spirit. The coordination of diverse events showcased the commitment and effort invested by the organizers, contributing to the overall success of the Sportsfest.

v. Suggestions for improvements to be made/ consider for future activities

While Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023 was a fantastic event, there's always room for improvement. Future activities could benefit from incorporating more opportunities for inter-program collaborations, fostering a deeper sense of community across different courses. Also, providing financial aid to students or finding ways to fund under-privileged players could really foster the activeness of the students. Additionally, E-sports could make the Sportsfest experience even more enriching for all participants. Overall, building on the success of Sportsfest SIKLAB 2023, future events could evolve to meet the evolving interests and needs of our dynamic college community.

Details of the event/activity The Gordon College - College of Computer Studies Research Forum 2023 showcased a diverse range of projects, including SENIOR BSIT Capstone Projects and BSCS Thesis Projects, as well as JUNIOR BSIT and BSCS Research Projects.
